I usually get fonts in bundles and had, pretty much, a couple of thousand fonts. I went through them and anything I liked I added a "1" to the front of it. Once I finished that group I sorted by name and anything that didn't have a 1 was deleted. After that I grouped them- signature (s), bold (b), dingbat (d), and monogram (m). Once again I sorted by name and pushed them into grouped folders. THEN I looked at each one again and kept the ones i liked and trashed the rest. Screenshot all the ones left into a Word table with the name. A lot of work, but I don't have to buy fonts for, like, years.
Organizing fonts can be a delightfully creative process and there are some great ways to keep them tidy and accessible.
Using Fontcloud
Fontcloud is a perfect tool for organizing your fonts. It allows you to upload, view, and categorize your font collection for easy access.
Grouping Fonts by Style
Create categories such as serif, sans-serif, script, and decorative. This makes it easier to find the style you need for a specific project.
Tagging Fonts
Use tags to mark fonts you often use for certain types of projects, like 'vintage,' 'bold,' or 'wedding invitations.' This adds an extra layer of organization.
Font Management Software
Consider using software designed to manage fonts. These can offer previews, search functions, and tagging systems to keep everything neat.
Creating a Font Book
Print samples of each font and create a physical book or digital document where you can easily flip through to see all of your options at a glance.
Whichever method you choose, organizing your fonts can save you time and make your design process much smoother. Happy organizing! 🎨
