I would investigate well what is possible for you. How big do you want the work area to be, where will the laser be placed. What materials do you want to engrave/cut? A laser produces smoke and gases, so these must be properly extracted, for example through a window to the outside. A diode laser is the "cheaper" option, but if you mainly want to engrave very good. A co2 laser can process more materials, including many acrylic colors. I have an Xtool S1, this is a closed machine with an extractor and I am very satisfied with it, especially about engraving with it

I have used Atomstack lasers for the last five years, simple, easy to set up and dependable. Diode laser do not cut metal, or any material with a mirror reflective surface, however you can coat them with a non reflective material and obtain results. Atomstack has now introduced a CO2 laser machine, may be my next purchase
As a new laser user, I have the WeCreat 40w. If I had to do it over again, I would have gotten another laser that is a CO2. The diode lasers cannot cut all materials especially acrylic. I will be purchasing another laser
